Unbelievable Fun In Wisconsin With Pollution Exclusions!

Nobody completely understands “pollution exclusions”. If you think you do it is only because you are confused.

In universal use for 40 years, pollution exclusions are the most litigated words in the history of the insurance business.

Everyone would benefit from knowing more about these far reaching exclusions because they effect the majority of commercial insurance buyers today.

It is an urban myth that pollution exclusions apply only to hazardous waste.  Any contaminate can trigger a pollution exclusion in a loss scenario.

Dirt is a “Pollutant” and water is to!

Wisconsin has our own unique insurance coverage case law on pollution exclusions that leads to some unexpected coverage gaps in business insurance packages.

For example in Wisconsin sandwich’s have been excluded by a pollution exclusion.

As a result almost all of the hospitality and food services companies in the state have pretty glitchy General Liability insurance coverage for food borne illness losses.

A wide range of modern environmental insurance policies are available to fill the coverage gaps created by an ever expanding range of pollution exclusions.

The need for environmental insurance has never been greater than it is today.

Our own David Dybdahl, CPCU from American Risk Management Resources Network, LLC in Middleton is an internationally known expert in environmental risk management and insurance.

He will provide an overview of pollution exclusions in Wisconsin and show how environmental insurance policies have been designed to fill the resulting coverage gaps.

You will find some of this completely factual material unbelievable and entertaining at the same time.
